Capel Court Supported Housing Scheme

Image of Capel Court Supported Housing Complex

Capel Court is the Board's purpose-designed Supported Housing Scheme situated in the Cotswold village of Prestbury, three miles from the Regency town of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire.  The scheme is a single-storey building set in extensive grounds with 30 individual flats in a warm, caring and friendly atmosphere. Six double flats are available for married couples and twenty-four flats for single residents.

Gardening at Capel Court

Each flat has its own spacious patio area where residents can enjoy the sunshine and attend to their own raised flowerbeds.

An opportunity for creative gardening

As in all the Board's Supported Housing Schemes, each flat at Capel Court has a lounge with en-suite kitchenette facilities, together with a bedroom and bathroom with shower. The flats are centrally heated and double glazed and there is weekly support for those who need help to clean their accommodation. A laundry room is provided for personal washing.Image of the interior of one of the flats at Capel Court

As the accommodation is unfurnished, residents are expected to bring their own furniture for the flat to make the surroundings as familiar and comfortable as possible.

In addition to their own private accommodation, residents have the benefit of communal facilities, such as the spacious dining room overlooking the grounds. Three main meals a day are served, with a choice of daily menu. Special dietary needs can be catered for.

Capel Court has a Manager and dedicated team of staff to ensure that the needs of all the residents are met at all times. Each flat is also fitted with a care-call system for any emergencies that may arise, day or night.

Regular services are held in the Chapel at Capel Court. There are also several churches in the vicinity where residents can worship as part of the parish community.

Prestbury village is within five minutes' walk of Capel Court. It has a Post Office and newsagent, a bank, a general store, and a pharmacy. The local library, adjacent to the grounds, offers a choice of reading material and there is a small grocery shop opposite: on weekdays buses leave regularly for the centre of Cheltenham and return to a stop just opposite Capel Court. There is also an excellent local taxi service. Cheltenham is a very attractive spa town with a wide range of shops, including most of the national stores. It hosts many arts and music festivals as well as the famous Cheltenham Racing Festival in the Spring.

Community life at Capel Court includes a Bible study and art group, musical evenings and exercise classes. Monthly day trips are organised by the residents themselves to destinations such as Painswick and Bishops Cleeve. There are also good road and rail links to Prestbury for visitors or those residents who wish to travel further afield.
