Ramsay Hall Supported Housing Scheme

Image of Ramsay Hall Supported Housing Complex

Ramsay Hall is a purpose-designed Supported Housing Scheme built on the site originally occupied by the Board's first home for clergy pensioners. The new building was awarded a 'Distinction in Building Award' following its completion in 1997. It is situated in a quiet residential road in the seaside town of Worthing, a short walk from the sea front and town centre. To the rear of the Scheme is a pretty west-facing walled garden where residents can enjoy the afternoon and evening sunshine. Ramsay Hall provides a warm, friendly and caring environment for all the residents.

Each resident has their own self-contained flat within the Scheme. There are 10 double flats for married couples and 16 single flats. As in all the Board's Supported Housing Schemes, each flat at Ramsay Hall has a lounge with en-suite kitchenette facilities,Interior of a flat at Ramsay Hall together with a bedroom and  bathroom with shower. Lifts provide access to the accommodation on the upper floors. The flats are centrally heated and double glazed and there is weekly support for those who need help to clean their accommodation. A laundry room is provided for personal washing. As the accommodation is unfurnished, residents are expected to bring their own furniture for the flat to make the surroundings as familiar and comfortable as possible.

Three main meals a day are served with a choice of daily menu. Special dietary needs can be catered for.

Ramsay Hall has a Manager and a dedicated team of staff to ensure that the needs and welfare of all the residents are met at all times. Each flat is also fitted with a care-call system for any emergencies that may arise, day or night.

A focal point of Ramsay Hall is the Chapel, dedicated to St Nicholas, where services are conducted by the ordained residents. Community life at Ramsay Hall includes games afternoons and film shows. The local mobile library visits monthly.

A surgery, pharmacy and dentist are within a five-minute wall from the Scheme. There is a well-stocked shop a short distance away and, in addition, the staff organise and run a weekly 'shop' offering basic household items and toiletries.

The town of Worthing, famed for its bowling greens and attractive public gardens, enjoys a mild South Coast climate and offers many amenities. It has a long promenade, boating lake, an excellent shopping precinct, a extensive library, an archaeological museum, two cinemas, four theatres (one of which is on the restored pier), a weekly market and an assembly hall where classical concerts and flower and craft shows are regularly held. Attractions close to the town include Cissbury Ring, Chanctonbury Ring and the South Downs, the cathedral city of Chichester, Goodwood House and the Wetlands Wildlife Trust Sanctuary. The historic town of Arundel with its castle and cathedral is only eight miles away.
