Project REACH

'Project REACH’, (Resourcing Evangelism Among CHildren) is an in-depth consultation between the Archbishop's Officer for Evangelism among Children and five dioceses: Blackburn, Exeter, Guildford, Liverpool, and Peterborough.

The Project was established in 2003 and formed Key Area 2 of the Church of England's Strategy for Children, Sharing the Good News with Children (GS 1515). This gave it a mandate and the process for it to develop beyond the local level.

The strategy was debated and passed by General Synod in July 2003. A short progress report was presented to Synod in July 2005.

The Project focused on five subjects connected with children and the Church:

  1. Parish development
  2. Midweek activities
  3. Children under five and their parents
  4. Links between churches and schools
  5. Worship

The underlying aim of the Project was to increase the opportunities for the Church to engage with children so that they could have an opportunity to experience the love of God as revealed in Christ and lived out in his people in every age, including today. This engagement was about opening doors to the life that Jesus promised in all its fullness, through witness as much as overt teaching. It was seen as seed sowing and accepted that the results might not be evident for many years.

The Final Report to this Project and the accompanying appendix is available from this page for your reference.
