YOUTH ISSUES CONFERENCE: 2007
'Remix' takes place in November 2007, to build on the foundations of last year's conference and to specifically reflect on how the legacies of slavery in all its forms can still impact minority ethnic young people today, as the Bicentenary year of the Act for the Abolition of the Slave Trade comes to a close. WHO WE ARE
The Committee for Minority and Ethnic Anglican Concerns works to encourage and engage participation from the Church’s Black and Minority Ethnic populations at every level. CMEAC is the primary point of contact in the Church of England for advice and resources regarding ethnic difference and marginalisation, advocacy, and racial justice.
CMEAC is directly responsible to the General Synod. It includes three working groups to address key issues for minority ethnic Anglicans: education and training, vocations, and youth. The Committee and the Adviser regularly liaise with and support numerous racial justice organizations.
CMEAC’s projects work to increase visibility and participation for minority ethnic Anglicans. Making our Mark: Redemption, Restoration, and Resurrection is the Church of England's response to the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act in 2007. Making our Mark has two components: six Bicentenary Hearings in key dioceses in the history of slavery, and a Walk of Witness in March 2007 at which thousands will gather to affirm the Church of England's opposition to slavery in all its forms. include conferences, maintaining a national network of diocesan link people, publications, historical displays, and ongoing strategic development.
