Providing a wide range of insurance services and financial advice specifically designed for you
Insuring your church
Ecclesiastical was founded over a century ago by Churchmen specifically to provide an insurance service for the Church. Today, we are the UK’s leading insurer of churches, providing a comprehensive package of insurance and support services to the majority of the nation’s Anglican churches. Ecclesiastical is owned by a registered charity that makes donations to the Church and community.
We believe that no other insurer has a better knowledge of the Church and the ever-increasing support it requires. We have a commitment to providing you with a quality service from the time we help you to arrange your insurance to the time we settle your claim. Our network of Insurance Consultants and Surveyors (IC&S) are able to provide you with advice on insurance, legislation, claims, health and safety, and security.
Advice services for church insurance
One of the key benefits of insuring with Ecclesiastical is the access you have to an extensive package of support services. This includes our unique, free, no-obligation insurance valuation service, a core role for our IC&S team. The specialist surveyors can assist you in assessing realistic insurance values for your buildings and contents. If you accept their recommended sums insured we will not reduce the amount of any claims for under-insurance.
We also provide to all churches insured with us a series of Guidance Notes on issues facing church property, such as current Health and Safety legislation. We offer a number of seminars and briefings to help you to manage your church and its insurance in the most effective way, resulting in the right level of cover and the right premium.
Ecclesiastical’s web site offers a specific section dedicated to the insurance of churches. The site covers important areas on Maintenance and Fundraising as well as up to the minute issues on such areas as Health & Safety and security.
We believe that no other company can offer you access to this level of expertise and support dedicated to the insurance of churches.
Insurance and financial advice for you
Our heritage in the Church means that we have also established a deep understanding of the clergy, and individuals associated with the Church. This has enabled us to help serve individuals with the same level of expertise as that delivered to the nation’s churches.
Personal Financial Advice
Ecclesiastical has a wide range of products and services from Savings, Investments, Protection, Mortgages (through our subsidiary Hinton & Wild), and Pensions for you and your family. We employ experienced Financial Services Consultants who are salaried. This means they can give you genuine financial advice without the pressure of earning commission. Contact Ecclesiastical Financial Services for more information on our products and services or for details of your nearest consultant.
Insuring your home
When you buy home insurance you want peace of mind, to know that if something is damaged or stolen you can call on your policy to put things right. Ecclesiastical’s policy gives you that security with a level of cover that represents an unbeatable combination of protection and value.
It also has a wide range of benefits including special concessionary rates for clergy and discounts for members of PCCs.

Ethical Investment
Ecclesiastical Insurance set up one of the first ethically screened investment funds back in 1988 - the Allchurches Amity Fund. Still running today, the now renamed Ecclesiastical Amity Funds invest in companies involved in pollution control, waste management, energy conservation, housing, education, home safety and medical and health care. At the same time, the Funds seek to avoid investment in companies which have a material involvement in alcohol, tobacco and gambling industries, the production of magazines or video tapes of an explicit or violent nature, the manufacturing of armaments, countries which threaten the individual's right to liberty and research where animals are experimented on for cosmetic purposes.
