Message from the Chair of the Church of England Youth Council
“Thank you for visiting these pages about the work of the Church of England Youth Council.
“CEYC, as a council established in November 2004, aims to represent the young people of the Church of England. We are made up of two reps, aged between 16 and 24, from each diocese; we meet as a full council twice a year, for a day in April and for a weekend in November; and we organise a group of young people to visit General Synod every July. As a council, we’re run by the ‘Core Group’, an executive elected from the membership of CEYC.
“The full council meetings are made up of discussions, debates and workshops. At recent meetings we’ve talked about topical political issues (including slavery and child well-being), concerns affecting the wider Church, and issues relevant to young people in the Church of England specifically (such as diocesan youth councils and the Youth Evangelism Fund).
“In the upcoming meeting on April 12th 2008 we will discuss how the Church in general, and we as young people in particular, can respond to poverty, specifically as it affects children, and to the collection of problems around the environment. We’ll also look at the role of faith and of Christians in politics.
“If you would like to be involved with CEYC, or know people who would be interested, please do email chair@ceyc.org. To find out more, keep checking back as we update here – or to sign up to be a prayer partner and receive regular updates, please email julia.eden@c-of-e.org.uk.”
