Nuclear Deterrence

In December 2006 the Government published its White Paper on The Future of the UK's Strategic Nuclear Deterrent. The House of Commons Defence Select Committee subsequently decided to hold an enquiry on the White Paper. The Church of England's Mission and Public Affairs Council made a submission to this enquiry on 18 January 2007. Amongst other things, the submission called on the Government to provide more detail on the thinking behind its White Paper on the Future of the UK's Nuclear. Following the MPA Council's submission to the enquiry the General Synod in February 2007 held a debate on this issue.
