The Urban Strategy Consultative Group supports and advises the work of the National Adviser on Urban Affairs through:
promoting theological reflection and appropriate action on questions of urban policy, poverty, social exclusion and Christian engagement with these issues;
monitoring developments on urban policy, and advise on Church engagement with government;
encouraging and promoting innovative models of church engagement and prophetic action in urban areas;
developing an overview of work and resources relating to urban areas, within the NCI structures and the Church of England;
advising the Urban Bishops Panel, the Archbishops' Council and the Mission & Public Affairs Council on ways in which the Church might engage more effectively in urban concerns through its mission and ministry, and its influence in the life of the nation.
