The Selection Unit of the Ministry Division is responsible for administering Bishops' Selection Advisory Panels to advise Sponsoring Bishops about the suitability for training of candidates for Ordained and Accredited Lay ministries. During these Panels Advisers nominated by the bishops use various tools to assess candidates against the Criteria for Selection agreed by the House of Bishops. Information about the Criteria for Selection and the content of Panels can be found in the section Ministry in the Church of England. Sponsorship for Bishops' Selection Advisory Panels is arranged by Diocesan Directors of Ordinands. Bishops' Selection Advisers may wish to consult the Advisers' Handbook which is accessible from this page.
