Called to be Agents of the Kingdom
Case studies and biblical material are used to encourage lay Christians to explore calling and vocation as disciples of Jesus Christ in the world. It is suggested for use in small groups, though the material could also be used by individuals.
Meditation on Pilgrimage and Vocation
A reflective exercise looking back as well as forward. Individuals can do this on their own, or a group can be led through the exercise and questions. Participants can then share their reflections afterwards. Pens and pencils are needed as well as a print out of the diagram provided.
Mothers Union Activities
Two reflective exercises which can be done by individuals or groups.
Different Gifts
This activity aims to recognise and value both the gifts of individuals, and the gifts that different vocations and occupations require. The active start has helped this work particularly successfully with 15-18 year olds, but it can also be used with older groups.
No Hands But Ours
The prayer of St Theresa of Avila is used to encourage reflection and sharing. This could be used as part of a service or prayer event. Click here for the accompanying handout.
Personal Reflection on Gifts and Calling
A framework to encourage us to see the calling to discipleship in all parts of our lives. It can be used by individuals, or in small groups. Click here for the accompanying handout.
Activities for young people
Although aimed at young people, mainly in the 13-16 age range, the ideas also work, with minimal adaptation to younger and older ages, including adults.
